Jocelyn Van President, professionally known as Jocelyn Van and previously credited as Jocelyn Van Taylor, is a contemporary artist, muralist, and public artist. Her practice moves between original works, murals, illustration, creative education, and community-centered experiences.
Her visual language brings together bold color, organic forms, portraiture, floral imagery, expressive linework, and symbolism. Across these forms, Jocelyn explores identity, womanhood, motherhood, transformation, nature, culture, community, and the experiences people carry with them.
Her work is not limited to the studio. Jocelyn approaches art as something that can live on a canvas, transform a public wall, create conversation, bring people together, or invite someone who has never considered themselves an artist to create.

Jocelyn’s public-art practice includes mural work and community-centered creative projects.
In 2023, working under the historical professional credit Jocelyn Van Taylor, she served as a lead artist/designer with The Art of Four on a project contracted by the San Antonio River Authority for San Pedro Creek Culture Park in San Antonio, Texas.
Her Houston Street mural, St. James Joy, honors the uncovered foundations of the historic St. James AME Church. The project incorporated community participation and was accompanied by a public artist conversation and unveiling.
The project and Jocelyn’s participation were documented by Texas Public Radio and the San Antonio River Authority. Texas Public Radio also documented the San Antonio River Foundation’s role as an unveiling partner.

Jocelyn’s work increasingly expands beyond making art for people to creating with people.
Through workshops and creative programming, she creates approachable entry points into the creative process for individuals, families, organizations, and communities.
That philosophy is expressed through Paint With Jocelyn. Participants are invited into a guided experience built around story, color, experimentation, personal interpretation, and creation—without requiring previous artistic experience.
Art After Service
Creativity beyond the uniform.
As a military spouse, mother, artist, and creative educator, Jocelyn also brings her practice into the military-community experience through ART AFTER SERVICE by JOCELYN VAN.
The initiative is being developed around artist-led creative experiences for veterans, active-duty service members, military spouses, military families, and surrounding communities.
Its programs explore how creativity can provide space for personal stories, family experiences, community participation, and life beyond the uniform.
Beyond the canvas
Jocelyn’s creative practice also extends into speaking, creative education, artist collaborations, brand partnerships, licensing, and selected commercial projects.
Rather than separating these disciplines from her work as an artist, Jocelyn approaches them as different ways for the same creative language to travel.
